Practical Advice for Those Not Celebrating Valentine’s Day

A sweet friend prompted this post. Today is not all hearts and flowers for some. Their hearts are hurting. Their lives may be upside down and they may not have someone to pamper them or shower them with gifts. Perhaps they are mourning the loss of their loved one or the loss of a marriage.

Be someone’s valentine today by being considerate of him or her. Send them a sweet note to let them know you are thinking of them.

And to those who are struggling today, I have been there and it’s hard. Try not to look too hard at social media today. Remember that even though you see it on Facebook, it’s not always an accurate depiction of what is truly going on. Everyone has struggles and no life is perfect.

Take care of you today. Pamper yourself. Treat yourself. There is nothing wrong with being your own Valentine. Heck, you might actually finally get the right gift. J

Most importantly, treat yourself with kindness and understanding. It’s okay to hurt. That just means you loved. It’s okay to be sad and grieve. It’s only normal. Remember that while today is hard, tomorrow it will be incrementally better.
