Amanda Leal, DSW, LCSW-C

Clinical Director, Doctor of Social Work (DSW), LCSW-C, Psychotherapy

"I believe in finding connection and fostering hope to empower people as they move through life challenges to discover truer versions of themselves."

I strive to help people discover more authentic and healthier versions of themselves through fostering hope, empowerment, and encouraging connection. I believe that the individual is the expert in their own lives. My role is to support my clients as they seek and explore what they need to meet their own individual goals. I have worked with individuals facing a range of life’s challenges and with individuals coping with many different mental health issues.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland and Texas. I have been providing therapy for children and adults since 2014. I graduated with a Doctor of Social Work degree from Capella University in March of 2022. A doctorate in Social Work is focused on advanced practice and administration as opposed to a Ph.D., which is primarily focused on research. I elected the DSW as my path because I love my work as a therapist. Before the DSW, I obtained my Master of Social Work degree from Boston University in 2012 and a Bachelor of Social Work from Salisbury University in 2005.

I have an integrative approach to therapy, which means I have focused on a broad range of training and certification to tailor the intervention to my client’s unique needs. Some of the more significant training and certifications I have completed are CBT, PCIT, EMDR, TF-CBT, ERPSCC, Social Work with Older Adults, and Expressive Arts Therapy.

I offer both relationship counseling and individual counseling.  Additionally, I am licensed to provide clinical supervision to Master’s level social workers in Maryland and Texas. I am also licensed to provide up to 50 hours of clinical supervision to LGPC’s in Maryland.
