Barry Vanderwal is cofounder of Serenity Place LLC and the head of operations for the organization.  He has over 27 years of overall work experience, which started with his time as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.  He has over 20 years of project and program management experience, primarily within the software development industry.  Barry specializes in leading teams through the process of taking abstract ideas and concepts into tangible products.  

Barry has a Master of Science degree in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University and is currently pursuing a PhD at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business, focused on researching management and entrepreneurship.
